We’ve recently raised our seed round from incredible investors (to be announced). Now we’re looking for a small group of gritty, fast-learning engineers to help invent this new layer of the stack.
About the role
You’ll own how Pointer lands — making sure our most ambitious customers succeed, move fast, and get strong ROI.
This is a role for someone who loves doing it all. One day you’re optimizing Pointer to run seamlessly on a company’s frontend, the next you’re shipping a custom integration, and the next you’re whiteboarding with their product team. You are equal parts engineer, product thinker, and business partner.
Why this is exciting
Pointer is inventing a new layer of the software stack, and our forward-deployed engineers are the ones putting it to the test in the wild. You’ll be:
- Working directly with customers to maximize Pointer in production
- Understanding their activation, adoption, and churn challenges — then building solutions that move the needle
- Turning messy customer data and complex UI flows into clear insights for the core product team
- Owning the feedback loop: what you ship one week will directly shape what we build next week
- Acting as the face of Pointer: demoing new features, explaining tradeoffs, and making customers feel like they have a world-class partner
What you’ll work on
- Partnering with customers to integrate Pointer, configure guidance, and measure outcomes
- Building custom features or connectors that unblock customer adoption and teach us what to build next
- Debugging complex environments (browser quirks, API integrations, model behaviors) to keep deployments running smoothly
- Representing Pointer externally: demoing features, writing technical posts, and being a trusted partner to our customers
You’ll be a good fit if
- You’re a strong generalist engineer: comfortable across backend (Node, Postgres), frontend (React/TypeScript), and ML (basic model finetuning/inference pipelines)
- You have excellent communication skills and can translate between technical and non-technical stakeholders
- You think in terms of business outcomes
- You’re comfortable jumping into ambiguous problems and finding creative solutions fast
- Bonus: experience in solutions engineering, growth engineering, or as a technical founder
