@algora-pbc /claim #12

Summary

Implements a self-contained Collaborative Research Editor Ops milestone for issue #12.

This adds deterministic collaboration primitives for a scientific editor:

  • structured Markdown, LaTeX, figure, citation, code, and notebook blocks
  • ordered edit operations for insert/update/delete
  • section locks and unlocks for controlled manuscript areas
  • live presence and cursor payloads
  • inline comments, suggestions, and task workflow
  • autosave/named version snapshots and restore support
  • publication outline export for reviewer inspection
  • lightweight local API/demo server

The module is dependency-free and can be reviewed without external services or package installs.

Requirement Mapping

  • Markdown and LaTeX support: createBlock + publication export
  • Notebook integration: notebook block metadata with language, kernel, source, outputs, annotations
  • Real-time editing model: applyOperationBatch
  • Live cursors and presence: buildPresenceState
  • Inline comments and suggestions: addCommentThread, applySuggestion
  • Section locking: lockSection, unlockSection
  • Version history/autosave: createSnapshot, restoreSnapshot
  • Integrated tasks: createTask, transitionTask
  • Export/review payload: exportPublicationOutline

Full mapping is in collaborative-research-editor-ops/docs/requirement-map.md.

Verification

cd collaborative-research-editor-ops
npm run check
npm test
PORT=4321 npm start

API smoke tested locally:

  • /api/document
  • /api/session
  • /api/versions
  • /api/tasks
  • /api/export

Notes

Prepared with OpenAI Codex assistance. The implementation and tests were reviewed and run locally before submission.
